99 Altima intake & filter installation, PLEASE HELP!!!

ok, I bought this cheap ebay intake for my 99 altima...and I was just wondering if you guys happen to know how to install it...maybe give a good step by step if you guys could...

How do you install this...

into this? ... (Note: sorry it looks dirty...)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...

pull off the four clamps that keep the 'lid' of your airbox on; you will see the stock air filter underneath that. Pull that filter off, toss it, and you will see a couple screws at the bottom of that air box. Unscrew those and then detach that box from your mass airflow sensor (the part of the air intake with a sensor and some wires coming off of it -- its a plastic black cylinder right before your air box). Toss the box. Detach the rest of the black intake piping first from the other end of the mass airflow sensor, then the throttle body (part of the car where the intake meets with the actual engine). Detach all hoses, but keep them attached to the engine. Toss that black piping. Now, attach the cone to the end of the mass airflow sensor that the stock air box was on. Then use the chrome plate with four holes in it that came with your kit, and attach that to the other end of the airflow sensor, with the cylindrical part pointing away from the sensor (so your coupler has somewhere to go). use the blue coupler to attach the chrome piping to the mass airflow sensor, and the other coupler that is bigger on one side than another to attach the other half of the chrome piping to the engine. attach the hoses using either the ones already on the engine, or the blue ones you recieved. Just use the ones that keep a tight airtight seal (no leaks!). Thats it.

THe order of assembly should be, starting from the cone: Cone, clamped to mass airflow sensor, chrome plate screwed on with four screws, coupler clamped to chrome plate and chrome piping, clamped to small/big coupler which is clamped to the engine. And then the hoses are all easy and self explanatory. good luck.

Thanks for the step by step. Do you mind posting a pic of your engine setup so I can see what it looks like? Thanks.

Well when i bought mine off ebay, it didnt fit directly on. You probably noticed that the outlet of the mAF sensor is smaller than the aluminum pipe that is sent to you by ebay. I went to home depot and bought a rubber coupler in order to get the two different sizes to match. That was one of the modifications i had to do. In addition, the four holes for screws on the adapter in the intake kit were not drilled in the right spots; i had to take a drill and widen the holes in order to get the screws to go in and bolt on from the adapter to the maf sensor. Thats ebay for you!

Ill post a pic of my setup later.

Re: 99 Altima intake & filter installation, PLEASE HELP!!!

did you take those new blue hoses and just feed them into the factory black hoses? does that work fine? and what about the sensors that were found before the air even got to the factory filter, do you still have them intact?

ALthough it isnt the best idea, i did feed the blue ones into the factory ones and clamped it down with those hose clamps that you tighten by turning a screw. The only sensor that is on the air filter is the MAF sensor, which is the thing that is between the rubber coupler and the 'ebay adapter' in the picture.

Re: 99 Altima intake & filter installation, PLEASE HELP!!!

alright so mine is all hooked up, however i drive a 96 and according to the manual there is a temperature sensor on the original intake hose which was added in 95, but i dont think that is a problem anymore. Now that the intake is fully connected however i am getting a check engine light on the dash, any ideas as to why?
