I was told that i should have my engine ....
( Ported and Polished ) now i dont know much about engines but what exactly would that do for it if i have it rebuilt and have that done to it? Would it give it any additional power? Also i was told to have my engine's ( Bore increased ?) also another term that i dont have a clue to what it means And, finally what exactly would a ( Stroke Increase ) do for my engine. I know you all may laugh at me but i dont know what any of this means because i was never tought any of these terms nor meanings. " I guess that is what i get when i was brought up in a household surrounded by Mechanical Idiots " " Please Help |

We'll soon prob around next spring i was thining of ether replacing my engine with a nice Crate engine or rebuilding my current engine. What would b more cost effective/ my best choice at hand if i were 2 do either one? Also if i were to buy a 383 stroker from gm where could i find a few prices of that engine cus jegs/summit dont have those listed , atleast not that i can find.

Re: 94 Gmc Engine Terms Questions =)
GM Goodwrench carries crate engines which (I believe) are available through your dealership. Here is their website:
http://72.32.55.194:8080/gmpp/accessoriesjsp/home.jsp Cost-wise, you would probably be ahead by just having the existing engine rebuilt unless you have a cracked block or something more significant than normal wear. Give a Chevy dealer a call, they can probably run through some options and costs for a rebuild versus and engine swap. |
