Cleaning Injectors or Not

I have a 3.4 engine which was idling roughly and after eliminating most other problems I strongly suspected a poorly functioning injector on the number 1 cylinder. Since there was a faint smell of gasoline, I additionally suspected an O ring failure. Because of this, I took out the injector rail with the injectors and am going to replace all the O rings. Since I have the injectors off, I am considering cleaning all the injectors off of the car. I suspect that the offending injector is plugged up from sitting too long. I know there are some fuel injector cleaning kits but I would like to get input as to which of the following is the best way to proceed.

1) Reinstall injectors and use an injector cleaning kit designed for use while the injectors are on the car. (Where is the best place to get these?)

2) Spring for an out of car cleaning kit which I can get at Advance Auto for around $268.00. I know this option is expensive but, I can use it for my other cars as well. I understand this method works better than on car injector cleaning. If there is a better place to buy these kits let me know.

3) Send injectors to a place such as the "injector Perfector" to have them cleaned for about $20.00 apiece. Disadvantage is the turn around time.

4) Use a method I have seen on the internet where a small voltage is administered to injector, small amount of solvent is put into the injector and and compressed air is blown through when the injector is activated. If this is advised, does anyone have detailed instructions how to do this.

5) Buy one injector and hope I don't have any problems with the others.

6) Put in injector cleaner and hope for the best. (heard this method is only marginaly successful at best)

6) Should I do something else?

Thanks for your advice

Re: Cleaning Injectors or Not

I think a spray can of pressure cleaner via the rail or cleaning directly with carb cleaner while there out by either soaking or spraying directly will be your best methods.

Yeah, where? The least I have seen is around $70.00 a piece plus shipping. That ads up to $420.00 plus shipping.

They must be charging less where you are at. I have checked ebay. They don't have them. Autozone, Advance Auto, Pep Boys are a little over $80.00 apiece. I didn't consider getting this kit without a doing little research including here.
