Thats really cool...but that has got to be friggen expensive. I guess if you can afford a BMW then you can afford the extra toy though...

Re: So many places to put this...

so lemme get this straight..the car parks itself cuz the spot is too tight for you to open your door safely and get out..yet somehow the people you're door-parking in can get in their car safely? without giving your car a bunch of doordings? seems like this engineers are designing without thinking practically. yeah it's cool and all oo aaahh the car parks itself. but honestly, how is this ever going to be practically applied?

Re: So many places to put this...

I'm not wowed about this either.

Parking is considered driving absolutely straight for a few feet?
Holy Balls! Thats must have taken all of Germany to develop.

And the only way this system works is if you put a reflective mirror on the wall next to the parking spot, what good is that? You can only use that at home, or maybe at work if your some big CEO with a reserved spot or something, but other than that it is useless.
Also, who in the hell, that can afford a 7-series, has a cramped garage?

These luxury car makers are running out of ideas.
They should watch re-runs of Pimp my Ride and put aquariums and popcorn makers in their cars.

"My car parks itself..."

"Yea, well my car makes POPCORN asshole!"

Re: So many places to put this...

Would that be available in an automatic only? ..and yeah, you would be quite fuckied if you're trying to back it out, haha. I'd rather do it old school and 180 it into my driveway, haha. It's nice to be living at the end of a street

the guy that lives next to me, he has a current generation and last generation 7-series, a golf for his girlfriend and bought his son (mid twenties i think) a 996 porsche.

they manage to get either both BMWs or one BMW and the porsche into their garage, we get one car and 4 motorbikes. (2 big bikes, 2 small ones)

i don't think garage size reflects on wealth.

Re: So many places to put this...

So does my insurance pay out when the system fails and drives through my garage because I like to fill it up with junk or got too fat to do park it myself? And if it kills someone is that manslaughter?

I'm not impressed I'd rather see nightvison on the windshield or blindspot cameras in a HUD. There are plenty of things that could be built into a car self parking, driving relatively straight for a few feet is lame, make it parallel park and we'll talk.
