BMW restoration... good idea?
I have recently completed restoring a 1988 ford bronco. I'm very seriously considering restoring an early to mid 1980s bmw 3 series or similar. Are these cars relativley simple to work on? Are parts easy to find and redily available online or at a place like pepboys or napa? Are parts expensive? I'm 16 and will be funding this myself. Are there certain things or dificulties I should look out for in the vintage 3 series?
This is out of no where but is it easy to obtain a roof rack for these cars? (aftermarket or BMW) Thanks Last edited by jazzzmonky; 07-13-2006 at 06:57 PM. |

Re: BMW restoration... good idea?
well it depends on its condition really, parts are pretty easy to obtain but BMW parts are fairly expensive not real bad but up there if u know what i'm saying.i dunno bout the roof rack but i'm sure bmw or other sources have em.this really all depends on the condition, if its pretty bad i'd consider otherwise unless its an old 2002 those are nice.

Watch out for rust on the ones with a sun roof. The drains are bad about getting cloged so water sits. If you can get your hands on an M3 that not in too bad of shape go for it. They are getting rearer and are going up in value.
