2001 Alero Power Window Regulator doesn't work - what can I do to fix it?
I have a drivers side window that will not work on a 4 door 2001 Alero. I have replaced the master switch on the drivers side door but that didn't help and of course my dealer will not take back a electrical part (ripoff). I have now been told by the local Oldsmobile Service Desk Manager that more than likely it is the power window regulator inside the drivers side door. Could this truely be my problem and what is the cheapest way to fix this problem or repair the regulator?

Welcome to AF.
More than likely the dealer is probably correct. The power window motor/regulator is a common failure item on an Alero. If you are capable of DIY you can remove the door panel and check to see if the motor is getting the needed voltage from the switch to prove it is the motor. Cheapest way is Do It Yourself (DIY). We have a procedure posted in one of the old threads.

The procedure is for a Grand Am but the Alero is similar, however, the panel is fastened a little differently. By the door courtesy handle is a plastic cover that needs to be removed to get to the two bolts to remove the door panel. See link below: http://www.a1electric.com/grandam.htm
