Arrow yet another 88 civic

Hi guys,

would like to run a problem by you.

I have an 88 civic 1.5 litre, throttle body injection.

got it for a $100 cuz it wouldn't start. It had no spark to begin with, I replaced coil, cap, and rotor, but no spark. Bit the bullet and got a new ignitor and that fixed the problem.

But the car still won't start. It is only throwing one code. (16)

It does crank. it does have fuel. the fuel pump sounds like it's running. and the injectors test fine.

Is this yet another " change the main relay" problem?

I could use some guidance and the help would be very much appreciated.

Re: yet another 88 civic

Check the wiring going to the dizzy- my CRX would crank up but wouldn't turn over and i went wild over it but in the end it turns out it was only a wire that was improperly fixed by the previous owner. I wasted alot of money, even bought a new dizzy, then i saw the wire.... i was pissed lol

Re: yet another 88 civic

well I know this doesn't help much but the same thing happened to me last year..code 16. Tried all kinds of crap and had no car for like a month til finally after checking the wiring for the 20th time we found 2 wires going the ignitor that were switched..boom it started. Car problems suck ass.

So just get like a good book like Chilltons and go over all your wiring maybe it's something simple like mine was..

Code 16 is thrown when there is a bad or intermittent connection to the injectors. Use a multimeter and test for connectivity from the red and yellow injector wires back to pins a1 and a5 @ the ecu. Simple enough. That will tell you if the injectors are getting a good connection or not.
