Question Engine Swap possible?

I have an 89 Ford Ranger, 2WD, standard, 4 cyl.
I found a Ford Topaz with a 6 cyl engine for a decent price, I want to switch out the engines...is this possible? Will all the pieces match up and such? Will I have mounting problems?
Appreciate input,
Cromag
ps. Please email at my address

Find another ranger of the same model with a 2.9L V6, that should fit perfectly, i don't know about the engine in the Topaz. You could also go with a 5.0.

well, topaz is a fwd vehicle, so i don't know how it'll mount up. And I know the tranny in the topaz is not the same as your ranger's so probably not. Best bet is to put in a 4.0 or 5.0, 4.0 being the easiest.

A 5.0 is way too much fun to even consider anything else, in my opinion.
There are companies that sell everything for the 5.0 swap.
Plus with a 5.0, the list of mods is endless.

V8 it !!!!!!!!!!!
My first truck was an 83 Ranger with a built 302 in it .My brother and I did all the work.It was great. It's a little more work then putting another 4 banger or a 6 popper in it, but alot more fun.

But what about....

Yes, I got rid of my Integra...and happened to befall a 4-cyl Ranger. It is possible to swap a FWD to a RWD...you need custom engine mounts and a tranny that will bolt up. Now...here is my question along the same lines. I have a 1989 Taurus SHO 3.0L DOHC V6 :finger: in my storage center. I've already got the intake reversed with appropriate spacers (runners were symmetrical), crankcase vent reversed, exhaust downpipes switched, two sensor wires lengthened, all the lines lengthened or shortened as needed, rear water outlet sectioned and run to the front, and I have a Lincoln Towncar 82mm throttle body swaped onto this engine. I have already made measurements and have found that I will lose my air conditioning, but the mount locations are the exact same as the Ranger 2.9L. I already have a Ranger 2.9L 5-spd tranny that bolts right up with no modification, a better driveshaft, and an 8.8" rear. My only problem now is finding out what kind of mounts I will need to use. Should I custom make mounts out of the Taurus top piece with another bottom piece...or should I go solid-type...ore are there a set of mounts that will properly work? What will fit it correctly?

first of all if u are going to swap to a v6 u need to go with either a 3.0 or a 4.0 a 2.9 is too old. dont mess with the topaz. if u go with the 3.0 u can retain the 4cyl tranny. the 4.0 has a different tranny. the starter is on the other side. the tranny from the 2.9 will also fit the 4.0 but 3.0 and 4cyl are the same. the internals are the same on the tranny but dont open it up and try to switch one. been there done that. it will work but is a lot of trouble.
