Hello, newbie here.
I have a 00 Taurus, single OHC. And would love to get more power outof her, or into her. I was thinking of a swap, maybe from a 99 Lincoln Continental or from a older SHO, with the v-8. Has anyone here done this or have any other ideas that could help. |

Re: 00 Taurus in need of more power
I have had a bad day and I really want to be an asshole right now but I have already recevied two warnings this month -_-;
Your Taurus is either a DOHC (Duratec) or OHV (Vulcan) they do not have a SOHC Taurus. Second off yes they have done 4.6 Mustang and V8 SHO swaps with the Gen 4 Taurii but if you have the DOHC than the SHO wont help horsepower wise because it is the same as Duratec. Third you need to get over you ******* ******* obsession with wanting to swap v8s into cars, 99% of the time it is pointless and everyone here seems to understand this but you. |

Re: 00 Taurus in need of more power
I agree with brokenantimatter. Doing that big of an engine swap runs into many obstacles and a whole lot of money and time, to say nothing of safety issues. Go to the local drive in where the hot rodders hang out and ask them about your idea and I doubt they'll encourage you.
If you want a hot car then pay the bucks and trade yours for an older Mustang GT, soup up the engine and put it in tip top condition and jam on it. Hope you have a nice, big, fat bank account because even if you do the work yourself you will spend big bucks on engine work and parts, then there's that must-have finishing touch paint job that can run into big money to. Fancy wheels, turbo dual exhaust, mud flaps and fox tails, and who know what else. Make sure it has comfortable seats because when you can no longer pay the rent you can sleep in it. ;-} |

Re: 00 Taurus in need of more power
I bought a Beemer today
WHOA! A guy who lived down the street has a red convertible six cylinder with 300 HP and if each cylinder is producing 50 HP that engine must really honk. He said a friend of his had recently been to Germany and the folks that use to drive Mercedes went to Beemers because since Chrysler bought them out they don't like Mercedes as well. Soon as they aren't in such high demand I'll look for a Civic Si, maybe in the Fall when they change the model year and have leftover 06's. I looked at a Mustang GT but that's a little more car than I want. HA! When the 05's first came out they were getting an arm and a leg for them and now they came way down and I can get a program 'Stang with low mileage pretty reasonable. The new Pontiac GTO is a good looking ride and with 400 HP that baby ought'a smoke the road. But, like I said, my reflexes slowed down and for an old Coot like me, the Si seems to be about right. Other day I was at the store and saw a guy getting in a Porsche Carrera and asked him if I could look at it and he was real nice and gave me tour. Six speed and he said he rarely puts it in 6th gear. I asked how much and he grinned and said 1-5-4 . . . I said, "a hundred and fifty four thousand?" He said yup. His Porsche was in keeping with his gold Rolex, gold diamond rings and gold chain around his neck. Heck, I bet the jewlery he was wearing would buy me a new Si. |

Re: 00 Taurus in need of more power
Huney:
BWM 760LI, V12 6L, 448hp...the weirdest car you will ever drive, interior more disturbing than a 3rd gen Tarui in 95 and slower than a stock Mustang GT (it started dragging its feet at 140 ). I am going to to drive it around for a couple months and if I am not happy with is performance than I will see about getting it tunned. |

Re: 00 Taurus in need of more power
"I don't know if you need a hug or an *** whippen," HeHeHeHe . . . .
Well, the man said, "I have had a bad day and, etc. . . ." IMHO, every now and then everyone is entitled to a bad day and anyone who has never had a bad day is not living in the real world dealing with folks and their different personalities, especially if you serve and deal with the public. Maybe the Boss was a real jerk and you wanted to tell him to take this job and shove it, but you have little mouths to feed along with paying bills, so we bite our tounge and hold all it in. Then you get home and she's in a bad mood so a bad day just got worse. You know the drill and I'm certain we have all been there and done that. End result? It's called "VENTING" and that is a good way to relieve some of our pent up emotions. Here you go, . . . I'm VENTING. WHEW! I feel better now. "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives..." "BWM 760LI, V12 6L, 448hp, . . .(it started dragging its feet at 140 )." I like this part - V12 6L. 448 HP ? ? ? ? Great googa-booga! http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...+760LI&spell=1 Aww man, you make me sick. I get all pumped when I floor board my lil' Vulcan and ease on down the road. I'm financially comfortable, but I ain't near *that* comfortable. One thing for sure, you sure know how to hurt a guy because I was all wired over the Si's 198 HP engine, and now here I sit all broken hearted . . . . Sharp Dressed Man wif' a Beemer V12 448 HP 6 Liters and a pair of ZZ Top Cheap Sunglasses. . . . . . THAT AIN'T RIGHT! |
