killed all dash lights

sup guys, i was installin an aftermarket stereo in my car today and couldnt find anyone who sold an 00 eclipse converter, so i decided to slice my cars radio adapter off and splice every wire......... well i wasnt really that careful when i was doing this and like EVERY wire in there touched each other multiple times

well after about 2 hours of figuring out the wires and getting the stereo to work, i reassembled my dash and turned my headlights on.... g0t no damn dash lights or backlight for my clock. checked the fuses by the door and under the hood and couldnt find a blown one any ideas as to how i can fix this crap?

i dont know how to check if a relay has been blown or not maybe that could be it? plz dont sayi burned my wires to hell

Well yeah....about that whole battery thing, that was really your bad. It is impossible for any of us really to say what could be the problem because there are so many things it could be. Disconecting the battery is always the first thing you should do whenever you are working on your car, especially if it's a wireing thing. Not a whole lot else to say other than that sucks, and get your KY jelly ready because it looks like you may have to get raped by a dealership or something.

how hard would it be to rewire my dashlights from scratch??? maybe even get a new color behind the cluster

Not sure, it's been a while since I put my guage face on, so I dont really remember exactly how many bulbs are back there. However, I am not entirely sure that would fix the problem. If the bulbs arent burnt out or whatever, you probably fried some wires somewhere, and there are a SHIT load of wires in our car (any car nowadays)...simply rewireing them may not do anything at all. Get an ohm meter and check the conections to see if any power is going to them at all. I guess thats a starting point, but get a hold of a wireing diagram from somewhere and check it out. Good luck because I have a feeling you are going to need all the luck you can get with this one.

yea i figured it would hell to do, im pretty sure the bulbs arent gone out but is there like an easy way to say... run my own lights behind the cluster and rig them to come on with my headlights?? because everything works except the illumination lights behind the speedometer and gauges. oh and the clock is always illuminated now lol

i figure i could maybe run some blue lights back there or something and when i sell it if they ask i'll tell them its a custom job

Guess I am the kind of person that wouldn't want to screw someone in a deal like that. I would take the time to get it fixed and if you want blue lights back there get a real custom job done. It will make you feel better in the long run. How would you like to buy a car and the guy told you about a custom job that he did and you found out he lied to you as your car shorted out and caught on fire. Do things the right way and good things will happen to you. If you take short cuts things will catch up to you one day and backfire. I know it's gonna cost money but sometimes it's worth the extra money and time to get things done the right way. Just think about that before you screw someone in the future.

I would say dick with it until you "ghetto rig it" to fix the problem, but them I thought about how he got in the situation to begin with. If you forgot to disconect your battery before you decided to whack off all your stereo wires then I'm not sure dicking with the problem at hand is such a good idea. God only knows what else you might screw up, I say get the problem fixed now while it is still only a minor problem. Screwing with it anymore yourself will probably only make things worse and then you will be in some serious shit. I'm sayin bite the bullet on this one bro.
