My Engine has a problem that I can't figure out??? HELP

HELP my car is dying...

The engine of my 325 makes a metallic ticking noise and I feel it is loosing power. I know it is not the oil pressure. And when I ran the ODBII it doesn't give me any codes for the problem. I think it is the vanos system.
Anybody outthere has had a similar problem????
