96 MX6 Engine noise/knock help

My 1996 MX6 M-Edition has a Knocking noise from the fire wall side of engine. Sounds like noise is coming from head but found no visible problems after removing valve cover. Mazda and other mechanics asked have no idea without pulling the motor apart for $$$$. Possible rod bearing, wrist pin bearing, valve problem ???
Metallic knocking, very loud, noise is synchronized with rpm.

Re: 96 MX6 Engine noise/knock help

thats what my engine sounded like before it blew after i pulled the engine and took it apart the rod cap bolts had sheered off and the rod wedged its self between the block and crank i would recomomend replacing your engine there would be less problems in the end
