Starting Problem
Recently i've been having a problem on and off with starting my jeep. Its a '96 with an I6. Some days it will start right up no problem, but others i can turn the key and nothing. All it hear is a clicking sound coming from the passenger side, and the clicking continues even if I take the key out of the ignition. When i continue to keep turning the key it does nothing just makes some faint noises. I tried to move the shifter thing maybe its the NSS or something. A few more times..still nothign. Then out of nowhere it fires up and no problems for the rest of the day. If someone could help me try and figure this out that would be great. Thanks.

Re: Starting Problem
get your battery checked first, sounds like a failing battery. How old is it?

Re: Starting Problem
The battery is not very old only about a year old. It doesnt turn over slow or anything thats why i didnt think that the battery was the problem, but i could be wrong.

Re: Starting Problem
maybe not the battery because you get the clicking after the key is out as well. try tapping the starter motor when you let someone turn the key. More like hit not tap. see what happens.

Re: Starting Problem
This is a paper that came with my new starter:
Condition: Erratic operation of any electrical circuit fed through the Power Distribution Center (PDC). The may include: Vehicle will not crank, lights flickering on and off, inoperative accessories Cause: Main fuse feed design issue. Chrysler recommends replacing the Mega Fuse witha fusible link. The Mega Fuse is located in the PDC. See Chrysler TSB 08-41-95 for further infromation. Anyone know what that means? |

Re: Starting Problem
if yours starts fine with the new starter dont worry about it. That paper is just in there for people to be aware that the starter you are about to put on might not be the actual problem, so dont take it back and demand another because yours is defective. But if yours isnt acting up then throw the paper away.

Re: Starting Problem
Could this ame thing apply for a 200 4.7? I have the same no start/click problem and then it will work fine. The battery is about 2 years old.
