How to prime the fuel pump

My babysitter has a Dakota V6 and she ran out of gas. Now she can't get it restarted (yes, she added gas). Any idea as to how to prime the fuel pump, or is something else wrong? Thanks in advance!

Re: How to prime the fuel pump

How much gas was added? A little bit won't do.

I'd keep turning the key on to let it prime. Once you hit the key you should hear it begin to whine. Do that a few times and see if it runs.

If she ran it low a lot for a long period of time she might have finished the pump off by now. Let us know what happens.
