Replacement Motors for 85 crx

Well I got a 85 crx standard 1.5 carbed for 100 bucks..body is almost perfect no rust/dents. But the motor is shot. I thought some of the engine importers would be able to get me a lower mileage one but so far all responses have been negative. Anyone know a place to get a good low mileage japanese long block?

I wanna get this beast running for a winter car cause montana winters suck ass.

Re: Replacement Motors for 85 crx

Welcome to the world of the 1G!

A friend of mine ran into the same problem when looking for a JDM motor for his carbed CRX. Engine importers don't see the point in importing these motors because there are very few left in JDM land and there is not much demand on this side of the pond. Eventually he did find one locally, but this was about 7 years ago.

I ran into the same issue when looking for a ZC for my car. Engine importers will not import a 1G CRX SI motor because it is a DOHC motor in Japan and won't "drop right in". Fortunately the 1G Integra has the same ZC motor and they're still imported. However, I ended up using an '89 Integra D16A1.

Anyway, I'm not sure where you can find a motor. You might try Ebay(?). Like most parts for these cars, you really have to dig deep and search hard for the parts you want.

Good luck!

Re: Replacement Motors for 85 crx

daaamn i was affraid of that. Thanks for the quick response though..Guess I'll start looking in junk yards for a head.

I got this one with a snapped timing belt and bent valves..took off the head and had it vacume tested and it has major cracks in it ..so it's basically a big paperweight.

Ain't that the truth! We'd never have coped without the internet.
I've just broken a 1500 auto to keep my two Si's on the road and now have an Integra trunk full of spares, the heater matrix is the next bit coming out.Got an excellent radiator too which I needed desparately.
I smashed the front of my silver Si so waited for a silver donor,no side mouldings so I'll use the doors too.
Anyway,if you're really in trouble maybe you could buy a complete car?...
