Re: 1997 Tuaurs gettign a code P1314?

P1413 Secondary Air Injection System Monitor circuit Low Voltage. May be the monitor has a bad connection caused by corrosion or it's going bad. Sorry but I can't tell you where the monitor is but if you swing by the Ford place they might be kind enough to point them out to you.

The system injects air into the exhaust of the car during the first few moments after you start the car. It's purpose is to assist in warming the catlyitic convertors to operating temperature. As this module is part of the emmissions system, you may be covered under Ford's 8 year or 80,000 mile emmissions warrantry. You will need to check with your local Ford service center to determine if your car still applies to this "Emissions Warranty." Awww shucks, it's a 97 and that makes it nine years old so I doubt it will be under warranty.

Secondary Air System: Some vehicles are equipped with a secondary air system, or air injection system. The air injection system is designed to place extra oxygen into the exhaust stream to reduce exhaust pollutants. This monitor checks the components, switches, and solenoids that are part of the air injection system. Click here to learn more about the Secondary Air System.

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

If you'd like the diagnostic procedure for this code/system, private message me with an e-mail address that can accept PDF attachments and a short description of what you are asking for (I get several requests for info and cannot always keep them straight).

My boss' Sister-In-Law has a 97 Ford taurus w/ 3.0L and is getting this code. What was your fix?

Sittign under the battery, there is a connector that burned up. It goes to the Air pump and there is a relay. We replaced the harness that contains this plug and poof no more code. Hope this helps - JT
