help with an iPod adapter for Alpine

i'm about to get an Alpine iPod adapter. the specific model is KCA-420i. I'm looking for anyone that has some experience with it. I've read some stuff about the adapter and it sounds alright. i know it isn't perfect but i just want to be able to play some music.

what i am wondering though is if i want to find a specific song can i unplug the iPod and find the song then hook it back up to the adapter? Will it remember the song that is playing right then? I know that it can only display up to like 255 artists or something. which is fine. i'm also wondering, can you search songs in a certain playlist with it?

i've researched it alot and have found this to probably be my best solution. other than getting the AUX in adapter and a power source.
