STraight exhaust for 2000 tiburon?

I have a cali tiburon and i wa wondering if i made it to single pipe and cut the cats, how do I get rid of the check engine light?

disconnecting the battery and then connecting it back should reset it so it should go away unless there is another problem

The CEL will always come back, because the O2 sensors are getting much more polluted readings, due to the lack of cats. Honestly, you're not gonna see any improvement by cutting out the cats, you'll actually probably lose some power due to the lack of back pressure, and because the ECU will start running rich due to the O2 readings. Plus, since you're in Cali, there's no way in hell you'll pass an emissions test.
