89 Eclipse?
Is there such a thing? I always thought that the 1st gen was from 90-94 but am I wrong? If there is such a thing was there problems with them because I never heard of one.

89 I believe had lasers but no eclipses or talons...

1989 did infact have Eclipse/Talons. That's why the 99's had the 10th anniversary cars. I think they were made in '89, but were introduced as '90 because they always jump ahead in model year. Just my thoughts.

when mitsubishi merged with dodge in the late 80's they formed DSM (diamond star motor Corperation). In 1988 they had all the design's planned out for the laser,talon and eclipse. in early 1989 they started making them. I only seen 4 Dsm's that are title'd in 89.
ALSO alot of people dont know this but in 89-early 1992 there was a Talon Non-turbo made with 167HP unlike the stock 136HP non-turbo 4g63's.

The reason I ask is a buddy of mine was looking in the paper and he saw and article for a 89 Eclipse Turbo Sunroof $875. That's why I asked and no I havent called on it, and yes I probably will.

www.nada.com states no talon or eclipse made in 1989.... for looking up values $$...... not even a laser

I've never seen a 89 either... I have often wondered about it though. They probably just made a few.

 Build on hold until I get a good paying job, either in school or once I get out. At that time a full tear down and complete rebuild should be in order. The Purple People Eater will ride again... January 2011 can't come soon enough.

What the heck? If there are only 4 89's then they are all here in Ohio. lol I have seen probably 6 or 7 of them in the last 2 years or so. They were all Lasers though, never a Talon or Eclipse.

I've heard of the 89's but have never seen one. If I owned one I would probably just call it a 90 instead of having to explain to all the "smart" dsmers that they actually made an 89.

I dont know about this 167 hp non turbo. We all know of the 90 hp sohc 1.8, 135 N/A 4g63, and of course the 195 hp 4g63t. I'd like to see some facts around the 167 hp claim.

I have a 1989 eclipse gsx awd turbo 5 speed. I can't post pic's for some reason. email me and I'll send you a pic of the build decal on the drivers side door jam, it has an lsd and all! it's titled as a 1990 though. whatever

My DSM is faster then your _____________<----(insert your car here, non DSM only, mustang, camaro, viper, vette, bmw, porsche, honduh, acura, nissan, you get the point). If you think your car is faster then mine just make a smart remark about my car and I'll turn the boost controler to the right a flew turns,  , you wouldn't want that to happen now would you? <--- (  <-- well these guys agree with me!)
