Question for people in Japan: What are SKyline prices like?

What does a '99 GT-R sell for right now? Actually, a rough estimate on all (R32, R33, R34) would be greatly appreciated, either in USDollars or Yen.
I am going to visit Tokyo to within the next few months and was curious what USED Skyline GT-Rs sell for over there. Maybe I can import one myself and save a few thousand bucks, even tough I'd still have to go through Motorex. (US$80K for a '99 still seems high to me)

Brand New R34: 43k USD - 50k USD
98 R34: 36-43k USD less than 10k Miles
R33: (95) 18kUSD- (98) 30k USD less than 40k miles- less than 20k miles
R32: (89) 13kUSD- (94) 20k USD less than 65k miles- less than 25k miles.

All cars are quoted for good condition...but more than one owner cars. Add about 2-3 thousand if it's a one owner car.....For the R32's you can double the price if they have less than 10k kilometers on them.

THANK YOU, Gtr2.7L! You mean kilometers and not miles in the first part of the post, right? Also from what you replied, I gathered that the R32s more desireable in Japan than the others. Am I correct in this assumption?

You all will flip when you read this!
My mechanic knows this HKS engineer in Japan who has a 97 R33 GTR. LOaded it with all sorts of HKS stuffs (crank, gearbox, cams, turbos etc) and run it at 800 hp. Drive it everyday to work! Wants to sell it for circa 5-6 million yen.

Skylines are pretty expensive here in the UK!

A good friend who writes for EVO magazine here in the UK (Damn good mag, read a copy if you get a chance) His father bought a '95 R33 GTR V-Spec for £26,000, though with super low miles, 405bhp, after market suspension, Nismo exhaust etc.

I had a chance to drive the car, and it was a great experience.
Heavy car! the brakes were a surprise to me by their in ability to stop the thing, and I found it hard to launch the car with any real anger, it always seemed to bog down! But 2nd and 3rd gear performance was electric, and so addictive!!!

Unfortunately the car was stolen some time earlier in Japan, and it was repossesed some months later!
Roger lost everything, but is pursuining recovery of the money from the dealer he bought it off, with the help of his solicitor!

A warning for all you guys who are thinking of bringing a car over from Japan!

Guiddy, wonder why it was difficult to launch the beast with anger? Is the clutch stock? If so, that could be it. My GTR, before the current mods, had 375 rwhp. With OS Giken twin plater, it launches from 5000-6000 rpm, spin the rear wheels a bit before the 4wd kicks in, thereafter it just go...go...GO! You are right, the 2nd and 3rd are really awesome on the GTR,especially the 3rd - at 120kph, shift to 3rd and within secs it's 180kph! Oh Gawd...thank you for the GTR! Not many cars could run away from the GTR in 3rd! I was on the track one day driving a friend's souped up EVO6 while he drove my GTR. Coming to the front straight from a hair pin (the staright is about 0.9km), I abused the EVO 6 with flat out acceleration. Every gear change was at red line. But at 120kph, my GTR just flew past the EVO 6 and I felt like I was driving a Metro or somethin'! You are also right about the stock Brembos. Can't stop the car for nuts! I learn the that the hard way on the track. Braked late...and...shite,nothin' happen! Missed the corner and spun. Luckily I managed to escape the gravel. That was enough for me to order the AP 6 potter.
I have heard horror stories about cars being repossessed by the police in the UK as they were stolen. I know someone who went through the same thing but he managed to get his money back and later repurchased the same car from the insurance co. at a lower price! He was lucky!

I read in Super Street somewhere that it was not uncommon to see lightly modified R32, 33 Skylines in lots for $30,000. Man, I can't wait to go there.

Me: Yes, I'm interested in buying this car right now...
Dealer: Uhmm... where do you live?
Me: US... I mean Tokyo... *runs off*

Next summer... it's so far away...

The stock calipers are fine...You just need to change the pads for Carbon Metallics, and put in DOT 4 fluid....(steel brake lines wouldn't hurt). I have heard the rotors crack...but you can get aftermarket replacements for those for a couple hundred bucks.

Don't you people check VIN numbers????? That's one of the first things you should do before you purchase a car so you know it's record!

I doubt he'll get 5-6 million for that car. Race teams prefer to build their own cars, and regular citizens don't like built motors. A car is worth more in Japan straight stock than with modifications. Part of that reason is that if you modify it...chances are, you're running it. And nobody wants a car that (even though they can't tell) may have been run into the ground. I bought mine slightly modified....exhaust, computer tune, intakes, HKS 2540 turbines, NISMO gauge cluster, Razo shifter, Veilside kit, ('91), 47,000 Kms for 14,000 USD. The aftermarket parts alone are worth almost that much.
