Wheel Stud Removal for '01 Civic

A couple of my wheel studs broke on my left front. We cannot figure out how to get them out because there is a plate behind the studs preventing them from being taken out. If anyone has any info to help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Wheel Stud Removal for '01 Civic

You have to remove the hub assembly. If you notice the stud has no clearance behind it to remove it. You basically have to remove the knuckle assembly and press the hub out of the knuckle. Unless you have a hub remover or press and a impact to remove the axle nut, you need a shop to do it. There are tools to remove the hub assembly while on the car, but they arent cheap. It will usually cost around $40-50 to have Honda do it.

Still wondering WHY they would design these this way ??? Makes no sense.

Wheel studs break !

I have done all of my rotations and will continue to do so. Most shops will destroy your lugs rushing to finish.

a little motor oil or greese or never freeze (spelling) works great to prevent it.
