Tire Question

I recently purchased rims for a 2000 maxima se and want to put them on my 1997 maxima gxe. Whats the diffence between a 215/55 R16 91 H and a 215/60 R16 93H tire? I know the difference is one ratio is 55 and the other is 60, but does that make a difference? The one with the 55 ratio is WAY more expensive!

Re: Tire Question

The one with the 55 has a slightly lower profile, and will give you slightly better handling, at the sacrafice of a tiny bit of comfort...

get 225/50/16

He's right, but you're really not going to notice the difference between those two tire sizes. I'd recommend going to an oversized tire for your rims. I've got the stock 99 se 5 spoke rims on mine. But I replaced the stock tire size 215/55/16 with 225/50/16. Huge difference, grab so much better, still comfortable ride. Real sporty feel.

I went with the lower profile, the 50's, because the size of the tire is larger. I want the speedometer to be correct, or at least very close to being correct. The place you're getting the tires from should be able to assist you in this. If not, you probably shouldn't buy anything from them. Just a thought.
