ABS Light on for 3 years... last night completely lost brakes at intersection.

ABS hasn't worked for 3 years, but last night I lost my brakes and had to make an emergency stop with the e-brake. Brakes are now working fine again.

What could have gone wrong / what should I look at fixing?

fuses?
sensors?
