YES!!! Finally!! I've been hoping for a larger/clearer version of this shot since the first time I saw it.

Re: Official McLaren WebSite

Its very interesting that this pic looks very much like its pieced together from 2...

and this one is almost identical to the scan that i made a while back. Some of the dust on my pic is in the same place as their pic

Quite cool if you ask me

This is not an LM - looks like GTR #11R to me.

The filename on this shot is "ueno-rear_large.jpg" but I think it's really an image of the Cesar GTR that wore race number #42 at the 1995 24Hrs of LeMans.

Also, I'm fairly certain this is not an F1 GT. There's no roof scoop, no louvers on the fender, the mirror extensions are missing, and the upper engine cover shouldn't have glass through to the interior. I'm pretty certain this is actually XP5.

A quick skimming of the text showed they're still claiming 100 cars produced and that all 5 LMs were painted orange. Oh well...

It did say that McLaren still owns one of the GTs, so maybe 56XPGT is still hiding around there somewhere.

i agree, Chassis #005R it is, the racing #42 is in the right place, and as its filename is ueno, should make it '95 era Le Mans, and the '95 Le Mans #42 was chassis #005R

i'm with you too on this point; no roof scoop, no raised louvres on the front wings, no NACA duct on the rear glass works too make this not a GT. Didnt realise anything was amiss with the mirror, but i dont look too hard for that sort of thing ( )

Note how the side mirrors are extended from the bodywork to see around the rear wing in this shot of 56XPGT:

NO. I just think its cool that they used my scans instead of using their own press pics. It also means there could be McLaren guys lurking here. I thought the "quite cool if you ask me" part would get the point across. I guess not.

Re: Official McLaren WebSite

Well, you can not expect to much from McLaren, After all, the car has been out of production for some years now. So it is strange that they have dedicated this much effort to the web site after all these years.(High tec company, Low tec web site) At least you would think, they would get all the details correct. Should have consulted some of the key people on this site!!

But something is better than nothing!!

Some nice pics

Re: Official McLaren WebSite

Agreed on all points.

I think they are quite proud of the history of the F1 though, and were not so happy with the look of the original F1 website or the fact that it didn't flow with the format of their new ones.
