Missing REALLY bad

My bird has been miss firing for awhile lately and I cannot figure out the problem. Its a '95 with the 4.6L. Ive cleaned the MAF (Ihavent been able to find a tamper proof torqs bit yet so I havent taken it apart to clean it), Cleaned the Throttle body, visually inspected the IAC, Replaced plugs and wires, unplugged each injector to see if on changes the idle more than another and nothing. No Check engine light, NOTHING. Its getting bad enough that if it doesnt warm up for at least 20 minutes it sounds and feels like it only runs on 7 cylinders. I need ANY help I can get. Thanks guys!

Re: Missing REALLY bad

did you check your old plugs after pullling them out? i had a really bad misfire on an old 5.0L firebird i had. i was told there was oil in one of the cylinders, and you could see the oil on the old spark plugs. could also be one of the sensors.

Re: Missing REALLY bad

Yeah I did check the plugs and they were fine. They looked just about perfect. Its really weird though because it feels like its running rich because after getting off the freeway after a 20 min drive it seems to run fine. I think its a sensor also however I have NO idea which one it would be.

Re: Missing REALLY bad

Well I finally got some tamper proof toque bits yesterday and REALLY cleaned the MAF. No luck. Still runs like shit. I did some research yesterday and I found something that said that Ford eliminated the MAP sensor when it went to the MAFin the early 90's. Im not really sure how accute that is but it makes sense.

The other thoughts I had were possibly the PCV or EGR valves. Of course any input is greatly appreciated.

Cool Re: Missing REALLY bad

Is it possible that one of the coil packs is bad?

Re: Missing REALLY bad

doubt it because its not constant throughout the RPM range or anything. Its not consistant either. I would think if its a coil pack then it wouldnt be missing rather it would be running on at least 7 cylinders.

After further thinking I think it might be either a bad ground or I might already have a bad plug. So Im gonna buy some new Motorcraft plugs and check the ground wires from the frame to the battery. If those dont work I dont know what to do next.

Cool Re: Missing REALLY bad

Have you put a timing light on each of the plug wires to see if the miss is present on only one cylinder?

Re: Missing REALLY bad

ok just wanted to let you all know NEVER buy Bosch spark plugs. I had the Bosch Platnums in my car. They were less than a year old. I replaced them with Motorcraft platinum and what'd ya know... the car runs great now!
