Does the factory timing setting change if you put a bigger cam in?

Re: timing with new cam
what type of motor r u talking about? But to answer u in most cases it does, because of different lobe sep, duration, and intake centerline of the cam the timing also changes. unless the cam is just a bit over stock.

Re: timing with new cam
I would say most cams for that set up minus some big ones that will require other mods. You will find that most TPI cams don't require advancing or retarding the timing from the stock.

Re: timing with new cam
bumping the timing some usually does give noticable gains. I noticed that on my car. To my understanding there really isnt a right setting. It varried motor to motor as to which is the best. But the only way to know is to hook up diagnostic software and watch it. Just set the timing to stock and mess around with bumping it up about 2 degrees at a time. NO MORE! And see what works best for you. And remember just because you can hear the ping doesnt mean its not there so take it easy.
