Need Help Programming 2003 Taurus Remote Key Fob

Hi,

My mom purchased a 2003 Ford Taurus SEL but didn't come with any remotes for the car. We picked up 2 but dont' know the proper procedure for programming them. Can anyone instruct me how to program the remotes?? I have a 97 expy and programmed mine so i know its probably close to the same weird procedure. Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forum!

If the car came with an owner's manual, the procedure should be in there. If not, there is probably someone on this forum that will reply with the procedure as well.

The procedure has been posted many times in this forum, so you should be able to search the forum and get the procedure. You may need to look through a few to find the steps for your 2003, but they've been posted.

Put the key in the ignition and go from off to on 8 times quickly. When you hit on the eigth time, the doors will lock and unlock. Now press one of the buttons on ALL the transmitters you want keyed to this car. You have 20 seconds to program the car, the it leaves programming mode. It will lock and unlock the doors when it's done programming. If you turn the key back to off, it will leave programming mode as well.

On is the spot where the key sits when the car is running, just before where the car would start. You do NOT have to start the car to do this.

I think this might be for all Fords, because it is what's documented in my 2003 Taurus manual, and has worked on a '99 Ranger and '02 Windstar.
