A C problem

When I press the AC button and the compressor comes on, at times the green lite goes out, and I have to press the button again, it runs for awhile and then I have to press it again and again to keep the compressor running.
(98 malibu) What are the common causes? I have changed the compressor relay.

Yes very common problem. The controller is bad "where u press the ac button and control vent temp" it's one unit. I heard of people taking it apart and cleaning the contacts. It's a dealer item.

Search this forum using the word "blinking" and you should find the thread entitled: How To: A/C & Recirculation intermittant/blinking.

It is an easy fix and does not take long, a little alcohol and a clean rag.

yes there is a how to on this forum for cleaning the controller head, that's all you need.
