New LT1 Buildup Quesitons
1994 LT1 Trans Am
Which route do you think i should go if i want slightly all out power just with the ability to drive it on the street/highway and still feel comfortable, with less than extremely horrible gas mileage. I'm looking into a supercharger or just going n/a. I heard turbos were good for MPG but I'm not too sure about them. So far i've looked into the ram air hood and induction box, but thats only 25hp..im shooting towards 400ish or slightly more once i'm comfortable there. I'm new to the f-body idea so i hope i'm not asking stupid quesitons.

First.. let me say that going straight for a supercharger isnt exactly a good idea..
Do some breather mods.. (Intake exhaust.. im pretty sure you know them by now.. if not then ask) Then follow up and put some different gears in (4.11s for a manual or 3.73 if an auto) If its an auto then beef up the trans a bit more by putting in a shift kit and torque converter You have to remember.. HP doesnt get you anywhere if you cant lay it down properly.. Also these mods wont hurt your MPG at all.. well the gears would but that would be offset by the breathing mods.. you'll start getting lower MPG if you decide to get a more mild cam.

Yeah i cant afford a super anyway lol, at least not for a long while. Just trying to get in some track times that are more competitive here in milan, michigan.

Sorry to rant in your thread but I gotta address an issue once again, it doesn't matter if it's auto or manual, go with 4.10s. They're not crazy, you dont top out till well into triple digits, gas milage is barely affected - in fact my milage went up - they are FINE, but everyone is scared of going with bigger gears. I've been daily driving with them for a long time now, and speak from experiance.

A ram air hood is not going to get you 25 horse. I don't think you will ever be going fast enough to get a ram air effect at all. However appearance wise they are hot. Go with the basics, they work very well and support any future mods you will have. So the basic thing people do in this order is Free mods (tb bypass, IAT relocator and so on), CAI intake/air foil, catback, headers, gears (sorry Savage but you know I have said I don't support 4.11's on a auto, the higher you rev while maintaining the same speed puts more stress on the entire rotating mass and can lead to a shorter life span not to mention gas mileage which you said wasn;t changed much but at 3 + bucks a gallon not much is alot), At the point of adding gears you will be required to have the PCM programmed so the speedo will read correct which is why I recommend getting your performance tune then, followed by a shift kit for a auto and a corvette servo. You can now go to a larger 52 MM tb and injector's. You can then look into cams and stall converters if its a auto and you will be right around 400 depending on how agressive of a cam you go,.
