Laptop keeps rebooting itself
I have an emachines M6805 with the athlon 64 bit. It was very nice at the beginning but all it's given me for a WHILE now is nightmares. The fan kept breaking inside and the system shuts off, I sent it in twice already to get replaced and it's still happening. Emachines, what do you make your computers with???
The problem I have now has stumped me, my laptop (only today) keeps going to the 'computer not shutdown properly' screen where it counts down from around 20 and you make a choice of normal mode, LWKG config or safe modes. No matter what I click or if I wait it out, it goes to the windows loading screen, then a very quick blue screen flashes and it reboots itself. Does anyone know what's wrong, has this happened to you before? I want to get my files onto an external HD, is there a way to do it or pull out the HD and dock that somewhere? where, what hardware do I need to do that? Thanks in advance. I'm probably buying a new desktop now.

Re: Laptop keeps rebooting itself
You could remove the harddrive and connect it to another computer as a 2nd hard drive and copy the files.

Re: Laptop keeps rebooting itself
You might want to find out what is causing the rebooting, it might be viral.

Re: Laptop keeps rebooting itself
Thats a HDD failure
![]() Nah, it might not be that bad, have a look here: http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en...e+Search&meta= If you can read the rest of the error code, and get the last two digits of the number it will help you narrow it down even more.

Re: Laptop keeps rebooting itself
Mate I hate to say it but it sounds like what you want to do is beyong your technical abilities - I suggest taking it to a PC shop to image your data off ASAP.
You can get a laptop drive to USB converter, then plug it into the USB port of another computer and image data off, but it could already be toast, in fact that's a likely scenario. Leave it to the experts.

Re: Laptop keeps rebooting itself
LOOK AT THAT. Someone actually bought XP before in my family so I used that disc and typed chkdsk /r. It's working it's magic so to speak right now.

Re: Laptop keeps rebooting itself
You may have a corrupted disk, bad clusters, or a bad controller.
First thing I suggest is to wipe the computer clean. (Of course do a backup first, that computer has a DVD burner) Then I would format the disk. Re-install windows, and see what happens. Doing the chkdsk /r will work to get you back up and running. But I would go this route to make sure it doesn't happen for a while.
