8pt. Roll Bar or Subframe's?

Hey, going into a '95 Formula. I know I need one or the other because I'm slowly picking up the peices for a supercharged LT4 style setup for the mostly stock LT1. Now I know there's quite the difference but assuming I don't mind the bars in the car and I don't mind spending alot more to have the bar installed, which would be better? I'm thinking of an 8pt because I have T-tops and REALLY don't want the top bar of a 10 or 12pt in the way. Also I have noticed that on sites like Jegs.com, it's the same price for an 8pt roll bar as it is for Subframe connectors. Why is that? I thought you would use one or the other so I can't figure this one out. THanks, Beene

Why are you getting a bar??

Subframe connectors should be had with or without a bar.

Personally, I would wait until my track told me I needed a bar.

Same as above. Subframes, then wait till you "earn" the need for a bar from the track.

Re: 8pt. Roll Bar or Subframe's?

The only reason I was considering a bar was because I was told that it provided more structural rigidity than subframes. That and the fact that they seem to sell for the same price just install is more on a bar. Looks like I'll be doing SFC's though, Thanks

sfc are all u need for now , but if you ever get in to the 470- 500 plus hp range you will need the both of them to keep your car from ripping it's self apart.

Re: 8pt. Roll Bar or Subframe's?

a cage will prvide more integrity but sfc's do the job fine unless you going for wheel stand traction on the track. If you wanted them for protection for yourself I can see that...

Re: 8pt. Roll Bar or Subframe's?

I refuse to ever bar/cage my car.

Too much street time for that. Would rather NOT have those bars there in case of an accident on the street. Thinking the bar would win against my melon.

Re: 8pt. Roll Bar or Subframe's?

I was considering a cage simply because I have NO safety equipment whatsoever aside from the lap belts... Was thinking 8 point or 6 point, but cmae across this FAQ:

Q. Roll Bars in street cars?
A. We don’t sell or install roll bars or cages for STREET cars or dual purpose cars. Unless you’re wearing a helmet and a full harness, you’re more likely to get seriously hurt by a roll bar than saved by it in an accident. They are designed to be used in conjunction with a full harness and helmet ONLY!

I have a daily driver (albeit a rather extreme one) not a track only car so I am not doing it, but just came a cross a 6 point bar, that is designed for cars so that the interior doesn't get totally trashed, you can keep the rear seats, etc.... considering this route, mainly so I can have harnesses put in. (Someone makes 3 point belts but they want like $300 for them, very steep price imo.)
