problem shifting out of park mostly in a.m.

Lately I have difficulty shifting out of park when first starting car..I keep pressing brake and pulling shift stick and finally can shift..This doesn't seem to happen during day after car has been driven and parked..Am scared someday it won't shift at all..I don't know too much about cars.This is a 2003 Buick Century...thanks
