How to waste money......UGH

Soo last night i was Downtown, anyways nothing would come on, I mean nothing. Emergency lights weren't working, anyways someone gave me a jump. I was going back home , When i use my powerwindows my headlights would dim and the voltage in the truck would drop. I started to listen to the truck i can hear like a whining noise when i hit the gas, thinking damn let me just make home without this baby going out. So i get home i got to make a hard turn and my power steering kicks in and this the voltage really drop , almost like the engine was going turn off. Thinking damn my alternator is going out. So I didn't get home until about 1230am, and i stay up reading how to replace the alternator, so i can do it real quick tomorrow.

Well I did do it quick ,heck i got it out in like 30 minutes if not less. ran to napa to have them test it, he said it was good. I was like damn what the hell could it be. So autozone is down the road , so i go to autozone, they test it. They say it's bad. So i'm like damn, what the hell should i do. So I'm like screw it , i ask the guy can i can take it back if it's not alternator. He said no. I just want to get this over with. So i buy it. 166 dollars later and 30 minutes to install and i'm ready to go. Except one thing. It's working, but it's doing the same thing. So i'm like damn it. what should i do. Must be a short or something, i guess i'm going have to bring it to the dealership to have them test it. Well i talk to my dad about it and he started to play with the wires and he found the problem..................For some reason the damn connection to the positive on the battery was loose. I just got the battery like 5 months ago, never thought about checking to see how tight the connection was.

Lesson learn, always go to napa to ahve them test something, heck even their alternator was cheaper then autozone. the next one would be to check the connection to all wires,

did you keep your old alt. if not go back and pay them the deposet charge and get your old alt back. you can eather keep it till the new one goes out or sell it. you may brake even, or at worse lose a few bucks insetd of the hole deal.

you can have the alt rebuilt cheaper than buying a new one.
