car people stumped

bought the car a few days ago 2000 oldsmobile alero GL...all lights and everything works perfectly fine...EXCEPT the rear brake lights...The third brake light works though....it had remote start already on it, but won't turnover to completely start....went under dash on drivers side and found some cut wires but nothing to help fix my problem..could the computer be bad and not reading things right..i just need some more tips on getting the brake lights to work

Welcome to AF!

The computer has nothing to do with the brake lights. Check the wiring leading to the lights. If there are cut wires under the dash I suggest you get a manual for your car to find out what they are for. Generally if the brake lights don't work there are a couple of issues. Check the micro switch on the brake pedal. It could be bad or one of the wires could be bad. The other issue would be a cut wire to the lights themselves. Of course make sure the bulbs are good!
