Unhappy Masking question...really basic!

Hey all,

I am currently building the Mazda 787B and want to paint the green as opposed to using the decals provided by Tamiya (bad experiences with Tamiya decals...)

My question is do I mask and paint the green areas, let it dry, THEN mask that and paint the orange? Or, should I paint the green on top of the orange? I really think it's the former, but I'm just not sure.

Also, I'm nervous, since it's my first time masking in a long time. Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Daniel

Re: Masking question...really basic!

I would paint the entire car orange then mask for the green. the green should have a base coat of white to maintain the brightness of the color. Use Tamiya masking tape only for best results. Tamiya's Park Green is a perfect match to the decals.

A couple shots of clear over the car before masking for the green will help also. This way you won't peel the paint up with the tape too.
