Keepin you updated on everything

Looks like I am going to end up buying a new fuel injector for my truck. that is about a 100-150 bucks. While I am doing that I am going to take the bed off and put a new fuel tank on it. Since I will have the bed off I will start sanding it and getting it ready to be painted. Plenty to keep me busy on this little project.

The truck is an 89 Chevy S10 Tahoe
2.5L 4 cylinder EFI

Re: Keepin you updated on everything

I don't know what your budget is but if you can possibly afford a compressor and a small sandblaster you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Make sure that it's a pressure feed sandblaster and not a suction feed or you'll be cursing and have wasted your money on it. I made that mistake the first time.

My present 1 is like this

Re: Keepin you updated on everything

That 1 is about $140 here
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...gory2_6970_109
Just check out your local area tool stores. I paid about 1/2 that through my local toy store for men (In Canadian funds)
The compressors are the expensive part. Truth is although it's too small for me I use a Coleman, that you can buy through Walmart. I've done more work that I can possibly remember with it and owned it for 4 years now. It's paid for it's self many times over. I use a 100 gallon piggyback tank (holding tank) for my bigger jobs.

The compressor usually comes with a few extra air tools, most are good for the money the paint gun is Junk.

nah. They were only that way from '91 on. the 2.5 was the better motor to get, while we all know about the joke of a 6 cyl.

Re: Keepin you updated on everything

Pics look good after blasting.I know how it is too get tired of working on one.Put the s 10 on back burner . I bought my wife an 84 ford bronco and she loves it. I know its a ford but she likes it. So I am working on it I have one question can the interior door panels be air brushed?? She wants them leopard print but she doesn't want material over the panel. I plan on buying new panels so they won"t have to deal with any imperfections. Thought I would ask to see if anyone knew

Re: Keepin you updated on everything

The 2.8L had one of Chevy's weakest bottom ends, so they're known as one of Chevy's all time worst motors.

They really improved in 86, and their next generation motors had all the bugs worked right out (the 3.1L and the 3.4L)

It sounds like you sandblasted it, Congrats! It must look good

Re: Keepin you updated on everything

I was talking about your pics of you coupe thst you sand blasted. I haven't bought a blaster yet it is on my list. I have 2 2.8 engines so hopefully they will be ok. The blazer is for my daughter I don't think she will be mudding too much. The engine will be ok for her I have another blazer that I plan on putting a 350 in My son wants to go ahead and keep the 4cylinder in his truck b/c better gas mileage He is getting ready to lower everything on it but I want to sand blast everything first. One project at a time rite now it is the bronco for a little while

Thanks

I've worked a fair amount with Fords, and prefer them, so if you need any advice feel free to ask.

I won't be involved with Automotive Forums much for the next while, so if you need to reach me please feel free to send me a private message. I'll be around just not posting.
