Catalyst Removal

Hi all I am new to this forum.

Just wanted to know if it was ok to remove the 2 catlysts under my 1988 BMW 750IL ??

Im from New Zealand and they are not legally required. I have done this to many of my other cars but was wondering cause this is my first Euro car if it was fine to do this also.

Also wondered if anyone has done any other mods, let me know...

thanks

Re: Catalyst Removal

if it has oxygen sensors u'll get into a mess but if it don't or u don't care then running it w/o cats will not hurt it.

Re: Catalyst Removal

If you are removing the cats to increase horse power, don't bother. I think the increase is like 0.03%. You wont even feel the difference. Besides the engine needs some kind of backpressure.
