sluggish acceleration,but good midrange power
My wifes 90 camry is slow (tho not missing, sputtering, etc) in the first 2 gears (auto) but winds out fine with power in mid and top gears. I changed plugs, cap and wires, filters, oil,ATF, etc. Is there something I could check. Someone said to change the 02 sensor, and the PCV over 100k. I recently bought a 99 Camry (4 cyl) with 64K and I'm impressed by the power and quiet ride. Thanks, Mike

Re: sluggish acceleration, but good midrange power
Check the ECM for codes.
Clean the throttle body

Re: sluggish acceleration, but good midrange power
I suspect it's your EGR valve. It may, along with other pipes, got clogged. Clean it up.

Re: sluggish acceleration, but good midrange power
vicchang - What are the possible symptoms of EGR plugging? Would OBDI or OBDII engines show a code for this (EGR flow insufficient or something similar)?
