Compression test results...

So, a few of you may know my car has been having this wierd overheating problem for a few days now. I still have a pinched lower radiator hose and I ordered the part but, I decided to buy a compression tester and I just got done using it. I have heard using like a teaspoon of oil when you do it but, I did not because, I was not sure about it. Anyway here are the results, they were all pretty consistant. From left to right it reads. 150-140-130-145 Any input on my situation?

Re: Compression test results...

You've got a problem and you shoudl fix it before you run it much more. You arent supposed to be more than 15psi difference, you've got 20. My $20 says you have a blown headgasket.

Re: Compression test results...

Yeah, I haven't been willing to admit that I have a blown headgasket. I guess I can just face the facts now. I have been looking for a pos beater for a few days now. Think I will be okay to drive my car for a bit untill I get a beater? I haven't been driving it hard, just to work and back every weekday. Whenever my car starts to overheat I let it cool down then continue on my way. Hopefully I'll be okay because, I really don't have another way to work.

yepper blown head gasket, remember the first step in solving a problem is admitting you have one.

Re: Compression test results...

Well the only reason I am admitting it now is because, I am thinking of taking advantage of having to remove the head or maybe trash it. (see off topic)

I am not sure where your turbo starts to spool but, I ussually only push about 1-2 maybe 3 ,if I'm lucky, pounds of boost daily driving. I ussually don't even build boost, well not enough to read, when I am daily driving. I ussually shift around like 3.5k rpms. Depends on how you drive I guess. I try to baby it when I can because, I know an hour from then I will probably be beating the hell out of it.

my turbo start to spool at 2.5k, and if I shift at 2.5k, the speed is not match, and the car kinda jerking , so I shift every 3k or 2.7k every gear, and my turbo boost around 5 psi when I shift that way.

Re: Compression test results...

How hard do you hit the throttle? I ussually don't stomp on it while daily driving. If you keep the throttle % real low you still accelerate(not as fast) and it can keep you from building boost or not as much. If you have a smaller turbo then it will probably boost pretty easily. It is not hard to tell if your beating your car or babying it. Best advice is be your own judge haha.

Re: Compression test results...

I think he means hes just revving it out until it gets to 10 psi, not necessarily meaning its at full boost at 10 psi.

Re: Compression test results...

yes some time I was thinking, I did babe the hell out of the turbo, some time I boost high 10-14 psi just wanna to heard how loud the bov sound ,

Most of you might know that, my ISC ( IAC ) is busted, and Im waiting for new one to come, and I know I should idle the car for couple min to let all the oil out off the turbo, my car idle like shit and 2.5k or 3k, so I turn off the car right away, when ever I finish drove the car, is that bad ?. How long should I idle after driving the car ? I got greddy turbo timer, and waiting for some one to install it for $100.
