July 7th 2005 Bombings

please take a moment to remember the 52 men and women lost a year ago today.

at 8:50am on July 7th 2005 four bombs were set off in London, 3 on Tube trains and one on the Number 30 bus.

at 12:00 noon Britain stood still and took a 2-minute silence to remember those lost.

Thank you.

Thats a shame. I think I remember that. How do people get joy out of doing stuff like that?

by following fundamentalist beliefs and assuming that installing a state of fear and terror will tople great countries. it is a shame. bigger shame that one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

I couldn't agree more. Its a crime against all of humanity when people can't find any other way to make a point than to kill innocent bystanders and then later on claim it was in the name of there religious or political beliefs. I can't think of one religion/government that openly supports killing of people that have done you no harm.

And someone also made that good point in another thread, all religions call for the preservation of life, not the elimination of it

Indeed it is a sad state of the world when senseless killing of civilians is commonplace and wars are not fought between armies on battlefields, but in city streets and the homes of innocent people.

Not necessarily true...
"And slay them wherever you may come upon them, and drive them away from wherever they drove you away - for oppression is even worse than killing...Hence, fight against them until there is no more oppression and all worship is devoted to [Allah] alone"

Some religions do not teach unconditional love, forgiveness and compassion as much as others.

I don't think they really get joy out of it...

I was travelling around the country when this happened. I remember going through the little shop in Arthur's Pass, buying a pie and seeing this on the front page of the paper. Just thought, WTF? Was kinda shocked but didn't really know anything about it until I got home.

I was a junior. It was so unreal until i started watching tv late at night and I saw everyone digging through the rubble. It hit my dad hard, he was in the city and he still has nightmares about what he saw. His building is right next to the garden(MSG).
