Question Alarm problems with 99 Isuzu Rodeo

Hi everyone. I'm trying to find out how to either disconnect or fix my alarm system. It's the factory alarm, I think it's called a Denso. It keeps going off by itself. I've tried disarming it but it comes on again a few minutes later. Anyone ever have this problem? I disconnected the actual horn part of it so I didn't have to hear it every ten minutes! But the lights still flash. If I end up having to disconnect it how would I do it? What else do I have to remove? Thanks for any help.

First remove fuse for alarm, if that doesn't help then disconnect alarm box which is located on the upper right side behind the glove box. Search faq for intermentant wiper problem, that section gives accurate location of alarm box and how to remove it.

Hi,

Check this out ... Good Luck!

The alarm goes off randomly:

Rodeo: It's the tailgate switch. Open the door, take off the 2 Phillips head screws that hold the pin switch on (the one that controls the light) and stick two or three washers behind the switch under each screw.

Also check the hood pin: It's by the ABS module over the pass side front fender well on the 1998+. The pin is covered by a rubber boot.

Re: Alarm problems with 99 Isuzu Rodeo

I have been having intermittent alarm problems on my 2001 Isuzu Rodeo for about 6 months. I pulled the horn fuse to keep it from blaring but unless I drive it everyday, the constant alarm tripping drained the battery after a while.
Today I decided to check out what the culprit was by checking all of the door open switches (the 2001 doesn't have a hatch open sensor).
The front passenger door sensor had a damaged boot. The tip of the boot has about 1/4" rubber tip that causes the switch to close. Missing that 1/4" piece was causing the switch to barely close and the alarm was going off because it was not always making the circuit. That is the theory anyway.
I did a temp repair with liquid nail to reattach the rubber tip and am researching where to get the replacement now (prob a Honda clone).
So obvious - I should have checked this long ago but assumed it was something to do with the alarm control module itself since the car is in such good condition.
