Just a few small questions, ranging issues

Well i just got a 98 cadillac deville everything is fine except for a few things.

1. The car stays powered even when on off and key is out. "the windows work and stereo works and so on" what would be causing that?

2. My trunk release isnt working properly. worked about 10 times then i just hear a click but it wont pull the latch to release it. sprayed it down with some lube no help.

3. The traction control is stuck on. when i hit the button in the glove compartment it wont turn off.

4. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the stereo. "what each wire does what" im missing that plug so i cant get a wiring harness all i have are the wires and im tryin to hook up a new stereo. got the power ones down and everything but was wondering about the rest.


The first 3 problems is all im concerned about the 4th really isnt a big deal ill figure it out sooner or later.

any help would be appriciated and i look forward to being around the forums.

The only one I can address is the first one. Do the accessories work after you open the door? These cars have retained accessory power. The accessories will work for several minutes after you turn off the car, even with the key out, until you open the door.

yeah they still work after doors are opened

My guess would be a bad relay. I'm not really up on that year and don't have a book, but it sounds like it.

Hopefully someone will have the answer. Check your owners manual to see if it shows a retained power accessory relay. Relays are usually bunched together under the hood. If you don;t have a book, go to cadillac.com, there is a section for owners. You can register your vehicle (with the VIN) and it will let you view/download a pdf of the owner's manual.
