Cool 2006 Corvette Z06 w/some Italian influence

It's almost finished. Sub-assemblies went well; I enjoyed detailing the racing seats w/harnesses and all the P/E latches and whatnot. Final assembly wasn't fun, getting it all to fit together and sit correctly wasn't easy, the tolerance stack is too tight. The radiator/shroud was tricky to fit properly, the windshield was a bit too tight as well. I lowered the ride height a bit in front. Only minor trimming was necessary to fit the Fujimi brakes/wheels.

Since there are so many design similarities w/modern Ferraris, the wheels are BBS/Ferrari CS from a Fujimi F430, brakes also stock F430 w/Corvette decals. Racing style resin seats from Arrowhead Aluminum. Paint is Tamiya Mica Silver. Tamiya XF 63 dark gray and TS Italian red interior.

I still have to make the oil sump tank. I have the parts but will finish it when I'm not so tired, and will get some engine/chassis shots then.

Fun kit up to final assembly...

Looks good Bob. I like the wheels/tires but I personnally don't see the Ferrari influence in the Corvette, although I never was a Corvette fan. Do you have any interior shots with the seats in place?

I'm not really into newer corvettes that much but I think this is amazing. You have made a beautiful model that is clean as a whistle. I like the views from every angle. If you had any problems with the final fit, I cant see it. Great job.

Superb. Love the Mica Silver, it really shows off the curves well. Would never know from the final result there were any fitment issues.

Looks hot, Bob! Ready for a track day, at least. Not like every other chromed-out Vette around here.

Man, I gotta track down a set of those wheels...

Very nice. It really seems like the Corvette-creators knew about the great look of Maranello-Wheels on its Sports Car.

Thanks guys! There are a lot of subtle similarities w/the Z06 and some Ferraris; the hood scoop is Maranello-ish, the headlights are like a Modena, the Z06 wheels are like an F430, etc.

Sorry to say but I forgot to get interior shots before it was assembled. I had so many fit issues getting the interior/chassis properly installed that I got tired and forgot to shoot them. I will get some engine/chassis shots later, after I get the sump tank built/installed.

Re: 2006 Corvette Z06 w/some Italian influence

Thanks for the comments!

I worked on the oil sump reservoir at lunch, was pretty easy to make. I used a leftover hub from XS Tuning wheels, the oil cap from the Z06 kit (it's there for use on the C6 LS6 kit so I used it), and a couple of wires to replicate the lines. Also used a tiny piece of styrene and P/E for the dipstick and tube. This is as good as it's going to get
