Sparkplug lead separators

Call me stupid, but I cannot get the plug lead separators to open. I've tried prying the 2 ears outward while lifting upward to no avail. I'd hate to cut them off as they appear to be rather substantial. What's the trick? Been working on cars for over 35 years and have never run into any clips this stubborn.

Re: Sparkplug lead separators

man, i believe you have to squeeze the tabs together and lift off of the coil packs, not pry out.
