1999 malibu

secondary air injection problem according to scanner (check engine light on)
pump not running, took off car, pump had water and a little oil in it. cleaned
it up put voltage to it and it worked. checked connection on car, no voltage to it. sounds like i'm getting some air back from the manifold once in awhile,
it comes and goes. could it be the check valve, or could the relay be bad ?

it's the air pump, not the water pump.

Re: 1999 malibu

whoa .... pump, what pump, the water pump ? more than likely you have a lower intake manifold leak. Pull your dip stick and look at the oil. If there are signs of coolant in the oil, even small amounts, or large amounts , like the oil looks like chocolate milk. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR. Collant in the oil will ruin your main bearings.
