bartending academy

i don't know if anyone here has been or know anyone who has been but i'm thinking of enrolling. i think partially because it seems like it would be fun and partially because i love mixing drinks. i don't know why i like it so much i just do. and i heard that the money is not that bad either, depending on where you work and stuff.

some things i have read said that you do not need a "diploma" from a bartending academy to get hired at a bartender, you just need an alcohol servers license. other things i have read said that you do. i'm sure the rules differ from state to state but if anyone could help shed some light on this i would appreciate it. i'm sure that having a "diploma" from any alcohol academy looks a little better than none. sort of along the lines of a GED versus a Bachelors (or something similar).

i have a friend thats a bartender. she went to the school. it makes it easier to get hired, especially at high priority locations. it's hard to make it on your own though, but if you do...i think she made like 100 grand or more. she's also a model though, so...bartending was the laid back job.

yeah, i'm not expecting this to be my main job or anything, shit that's why i'm pullin 40 plus hours a week now. it's more just to get a little supplemental income, more like spending money on the side.

if its that, i woulnt do it. it takes a lot of time. id do it, but its not the direction i want...ish. i could meet a lot of contacts like that though. like i said, its hard but i guess you could if you had someone willing to hire you.
