3.4 surges with clutch engaged

I have a 95 3.4 v6 with a 5 speed. When it is cold it will die with the clutch engaged. After it is warmed up it will surge. It runs fine as long as you don't clutch it. Any ideas?

Thanks

Could it possibly be a bad clutch or throwout bearing? I just found out that had been sitting up for a year without running.

Could just be alot of surface rust, same concept as brake rotor.

Re: 3.4 surges with clutch engaged

I just had my throw out bearing and clutch replaced (same car as you) and I was drawn to the problem by a strange noise from my transmission. Also, I could feel a vibration in my clutch pedal. I am NO expert, but maybe the sound and the vibration I experienced could be a sign to look for to diagnose a bad throw out bearing. Good Luck!

Re: 3.4 surges with clutch engaged

I found out that the prior owner had had the same problem before and replaced the crankshaft position sensor and it fixed the problem. The waterpump went out a few weeks ago, so it got me to thinking it could have been leaking on the sensor. I sprayed the sensor down with some carb cleaner and it wouldn't run at all. I replaced the sensor today and as soon as I was done it was a pain in the ass to keep it running. after a few minutes of playing with it it cleared up. Can i believe that it was just the computer having to reset itself, and is going to be OK???? It is really getting on my nerves.

Thanks
