Car Troubles

I have a manual 98 civic DX coupe with about 99K miles that is starting to run into some problems. I'm wondering if someone on this forum might have had the same thing. The car was running fine up until a two days ago, just needed some oil. Out of nowhere the speedometer busted and the check engine light came on. Everything else was running fine, so I figured that the speedometer had tripped the light. Yesterday the engine started acting weird. When the car idles it sounds like the engine is struggling. When your in first gear and stepping on the gas it makes a high pitched noise like a buzzsaw cutting through metal until you get to second or third gear. The headlights dim and brighten to the tune of the engine struggling. And than the kicker is today on my way to work the car stalled as I pulled up to a stop sign. I know this is just the precurssor and it'll probably get worse before it gets better. So if anyone has had problems like these or has a suggestion I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Re: Car Troubles

Sounds like a struggling alternator to me. Run the CEL code to see what you get, that will most likely tell you what's wrong.
