Disconnecting ABS

Hi!
I have a 98 Daihatsu Jeep, recently the ABS light has come on, I've taken it back to the dealers who says I need a new unit at a very high price.

Tbh I can easily drive the car without ABS, I know lots of people will disagree, but I've been driving it with the ABS on the fritz, only problem is the unit get pretty hot. Whats the best way to disconnect it? Just unplug the unit or pull it's fuse? The car isn't worth the price of the ABS unit itself. which is a real shame.

Cheers

Re: Disconnecting ABS

is the pump cycling? It shouldn't be. Most ABS modules, when they find an internal problem, take the ABS off line.

But yes, just disconnect it.

Re: Disconnecting ABS

can you not source another ABS unit from a scrapyard and use that instead of replacing it with a new one? it'd be better than running with no ABS.
