Re: I am trying to locate the IOD fuse

On a 96 it's under the hood in a fuse/relay box next to the battery. I"ve read threads in the past that in some vans it's labeled differently. Just have to find the threads.

BTW - Most say IOD stands for "ignition off draw". One stated Chrysler pulls them at the factory before shipping to keep the battery from draining then the dealer reinstalls them.

Re: I am trying to locate the IOD fuse

It's the fuse nearest the steering wheel (in the fuse box in the engine bay).

Re: I am trying to locate the IOD fuse

disconnect the positve battery cable, using a multi meter on the dc amp setting, should be good for 10 amps, put one probe on the pos. cable and the other on the pos. battery terminal. Now you should see how amperage is being drawn. Now take out one fuse at a time and see if the reading on the multi meter drops, if it doesn't , keep trying fuses until you pull the one that makes it drop. That one will be the circuit you have the problem with. Just leave the fuse out until you have time to fix it.
